Everyday travel photography with your phone or personal camera does not require a professional filming permit. You are welcome to photograph your climb and safari for personal use, subject to park rules and any local restrictions on where photography is allowed.
Professional & commercial filming
Professional or commercial filming on Kilimanjaro and in Tanzania’s national parks requires the relevant Film Board approvals and the applicable park or location permissions for your project. Requirements and fees change, so check the current position with the Tanzania Film Board and the relevant park authority for your specific locations and dates. We do not promise approval, a fixed processing time, or that a lawyer must be engaged — but production teams should plan well ahead and allow plenty of time.
Drone importation & operation
Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) approval is required for drone operations, and import permission must be arranged before bringing a drone into Tanzania. Aviation permission alone does not establish permission to operate a drone in Kilimanjaro National Park — separate park or location permissions apply and drones are commonly restricted in national parks. Check the current official requirements before you travel rather than relying on older summaries.
