Lemosho via Crater Campsite (9 Days)
Day 0: Arrival in Tanzania
Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be picked up by an Exuberant Representative and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. You will have a pre-climb briefing with your guide, who will explain the details of the climb and answer any questions you may have. You will have the rest of the day to relax and prepare for the climb.
Day 1: Lemosho Gate to Mti Mkubwa Camp (2,650 m)
After breakfast, you will be driven to the Lemosho Gate, where you will meet the rest of the climbing team. From here, you will start the climb through the rainforest to the first campsite at Mti Mkubwa. The hike will take around 4-5 hours, and you will have plenty of time to rest and enjoy the scenery once you arrive at the campsite.
Day 2: Mti Mkubwa to Shira 1 Camp (3,500 m)
Today's hike will take you from the rainforest to the moorland zone. You will climb up to Shira Ridge, where you will have panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. From here, you will continue to the Shira 1 campsite, where you will spend the night.
Day 3: Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp (3,840 m)
Today's hike will take you through the high-altitude desert landscape, with views of the Western Breach and the Shira Plateau. You will climb up to the Shira Cathedral, a rocky outcrop that provides stunning views of the surrounding area. From here, you will continue to the Shira 2 campsite, where you will spend the night.
Day 4: Shira 2 to Lava Tower Camp (4,630 m)
Today's hike will take you up to Lava Tower, a volcanic formation that offers incredible views of the surrounding landscape. This will be the highest point of the day, and you will then descend to the Barranco Campsite for the night.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp (4,035 m)
Today's hike will take you up the Barranco Wall, a steep ascent that requires some scrambling. From here, you will continue to the Karanga Campsite, located on a rocky ridge with panoramic views of the surrounding landscape.
Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp (4,640 m)
Today's hike will take you up to Barafu Camp, located on a plateau beneath the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro. You will climb up the rocky ridge, with views of the surrounding glaciers and mountain peaks.
Day 7: Barafu Camp to Crater Campsite (5,700 m)
Today's hike will take you up to the Crater Campsite, located at the edge of the Reusch Crater. You will climb up the steep slope, with views of the surrounding landscape. This will be a long and challenging day, and you will need to take care to avoid altitude sickness.
Day 8: Crater Campsite to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m) and descent to Millennium Camp (3,820 m)
Today's hike will take you to the summit of Mount Kilimanjaro, Uhuru Peak. You will start the climb in the early morning, hiking up to Stella Point and then continuing to Uhuru Peak. Once you reach the summit, you will have time to take photos and enjoy the incredible views before descending to Millennium Campsite, where you will spend the night.
Day 9: Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate (1,640 m)
Today's hike will take you through the rainforest to the Mweka Gate, where you will sign out of the national park and receive your summit certificates. You will then be driven back to your hotel in Moshi, where you can enjoy a hot shower and a well-deserved rest.
Day 10: Departure from Tanzania
After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport for your departure flight.
