Why Exuberant | Local Kilimanjaro & Safari Team in Moshi
Exuberant Kilimanjaro Safaris is a locally owned operator based in Moshi. We plan Kilimanjaro climbs, wildlife safaris and day tours around your interests, with practical advice from the people who guide your journey.
Local knowledge
Our team brings firsthand knowledge of Kilimanjaro, Moshi and Tanzania’s safari destinations. Alongside the major attractions, we help you explore places and experiences that fit your interests.
An itinerary shaped around you
We discuss your fitness, experience, dates, budget and preferences before recommending a route or safari. We explain the trade-offs rather than treating every itinerary as the right choice for everyone.
Attention on the mountain
Climbers receive twice-daily wellbeing checks using a pulse oximeter and Lake Louise symptom assessment. Our mountain team carries emergency oxygen and first-aid equipment. Guides may change the plan or recommend descent when safety requires it.
A carefully selected team
Our guides, cooks and porters are selected for their experience, practical skills and approach to guests. Clear communication and attention to detail matter throughout the journey.
Meals and equipment that support the trip
Our mountain chefs prepare filling meals using fresh ingredients. Tell us about dietary requirements before booking so we can confirm suitable arrangements. We prepare camping equipment for the itinerary and explain what you need to bring or rent.
Respect for the people behind the adventure
We pay porters TZS 25,000 per working day and provide medical allowances during and outside the climbing season, alongside low-season support. Staff welfare is part of how we organise our work.
Direct communication
Plan directly with our team in Moshi before you travel, and stay in touch during your trip through your guide team and our office base. You can discuss your preferences, ask practical questions and shape your itinerary with the people organising your Tanzania trip.
Service and value
We focus on personal attention, thoughtful preparation and arrangements that suit your budget. We explain the available options so you can decide where to spend more and where a simpler choice works for you.
Clear pricing
Your written quotation sets out inclusions, exclusions, required charges (such as the compulsory crew tip) and optional extras. We clarify gear rentals, accommodation supplements and requested additions before booking, helping you understand the total cost of your chosen arrangements.

Our story
A connection to Kilimanjaro
that is personal.
Being of Chagga ancestry, our connection to Kilimanjaro is personal. Friends and travellers often asked us where to go, how to prepare and how to experience the region beyond the familiar highlights.
Exuberant grew from those conversations and the desire to make local knowledge more accessible. We wanted travellers to understand their options and work directly with a team that knows the mountain and surrounding communities.
Our name reflects how we see Kilimanjaro: full of energy, excitement and possibility. That spirit shapes the journeys we create, from a mountain climb to a wildlife safari or a day exploring closer to Moshi.
Meet Abe Moshi
From adventurer to guide
to operator.
Abraham Meliari Moshi, known as Abe, is the owner and director of Exuberant Kilimanjaro Safaris. His journey from adventurer to guide and operator gives him firsthand knowledge of the work behind a climb—and the people whose effort makes it possible.
Abe’s approach is personal: understand the traveller, explain the choices clearly and build a journey that suits their needs.

Speaking up for Kilimanjaro’s trekking communities
The Citizen featured Abraham Meliari of Exuberant in its reporting on the proposed Kilimanjaro cable car. He highlighted the value of the trekking journey and called for scrutiny of how the project could affect local livelihoods and Tanzania’s tourism economy.
“The journey itself is the product.”
